The third day of Dry January and thus far all is going well. We have had a couple of days of beautiful winter sunshine and took the opportunity to take a walk on the nearby beach at Kamchia on New Year’s Day and yesterday.

Today has been for relaxing at home. The twilight sky was a kaleidoscope of soft colours, slowly shifting in shape and spectral frequency.
While all is going well, I do miss the ritual of marking the end of the day with a drink. Hopefully this will become easier as the month progresses and new habits become established. I am hoping that my energy levels will increase but today I just felt a bit tireder than usual. I know this is something that fluctuates. I think the quality of my sleep is slowly improving. I guess that in these first few days of abstinence my body is adjusting to the new order. As is my mind!
Alcohol Trivia Quiz
The answers for yesterday’s questions:
- The word “alcohol” comes from Arabic.
- Samogon is Russian moonshine (illicitly distilled liquor).
- The first corkscrew was patented in 1795 by Samuel Henshall.
Today’s questions:
- In UK, what “proof” is a bottle of 40% ABV vodka?
- What is the name of the wire cage that secures a Champagne cork?
- Who said “Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker”?
See you tomorrow! Keep safe and well. Good luck if you are also trying to be abstinent, whatever the reasons – stay strong.
